This cherry tomato sauce is probably one of the quickest pasta sauces ever. All you need to do is apply the cherry tomatoes on an oiled pan on high heat and wait until they burst. Approximate time? About 5-7 minutes.
Whenever high heat is applied to tomatoes (especially the good quality ones) they release an intense umami flavor. It’s a perfect add-on ingredient to any dish. Ivan Orkin from Ivan Ramen became famous in Japan by adding roasted tomatoes to ramen, something that had never been done before in Japan.
This dish is exceptionally easy and can satisfy a variety of palates. If you’re gluten-intolerant, just switch the pasta to a gluten-free alternative. All you need for this pasta with cherry tomatoes and basil are very basic ingredients. You probably already have them in your fridge and pantry.
Another tip? Try using multi-colored tomatoes. The taste is much more diverse and they’re visually more appealing!

Pasta with Cherry Tomatoes and Basil
A super easy 10-minute pasta dish with a flavorful cherry tomato and basil sauce.
Ingredients
- 8 oz cherry tomatoes
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp basil leaves, chopped more for garnish
- 8 oz pasta
- sea salt & pepper to taste
Instructions

Cook pasta according to instructions.

Place 2 tbsp of olive oil in a pan and set to high heat.

Add the garlic and cherry tomatoes to the pan and cook until tomatoes burst.

Once tomatoes burst, add the chopped basil leaves and balsamic vinegar and remove from heat.

Season with salt and pepper and serve with pasta.
